Re: Engine whine..........
No, the whine continues even when the clutch is depressed. I've not long had the cam belts and tensioner fitted new, in-fact I think it's started since then! lol

Engine whine..........
Hello all. I drive my Mg Tf everyday to and from work, lately it's started to make a high pitched 'whinning' noise coming from the engine that increases in pitch along with the increase in revs! I can live with it as it's not too bad but wondered if it is symptomatic of a deeper issue? All replies ...

Many thanks for all the replies, great advice on how to proceed. Does the expected increase in Torque make the car accelerate faster then?

Stainless Steel Manifolds.............
Hello forum, hope everyone is ready-ing their cars for the Winter. I have an MgTf (2004) 135bhp 1.8 and have heard that a sports manifold can increase the flow and therefore the bhp output considerably. There are branded versions, e.g. Janspeed ect, but these tend to be around the £400-£500 mark. R...

Ah, sorry to hear that Adrian. Odd that Janspeed didn't get it right, they're not a small company and fairly high profile. Piper here we come!

Re: MG TF 135 power increases..........
Interesting replies. Encouraging to hear that it went after 8 years, must sell mine before then! Lol ! The issues I read about Colin were all around the Janspeed 4-2-1, so I will be opting for the Piper me thinks. Valuable feedback peeps, much appreciated......

Re: MG TF 135 power increases..........
Thanks for everyone's contributions to the thread. I am a bit concerned about getting a Piper 4-2-1 as I've read that the bolts holding it to the engine often shear and that the connective flexible coupling have very short life-spans! Can anyone who has one fitted tell me if they've had any trouble...

Cheers Reckless Rat, is it just the glass bulbs I need or the ones that come with a plastic holder? Just I have some little glass ones in a drawer somewhere.

MgTf centre console
Hello forum. I've got a bulb gone down that illuminates the clock in the centre console, I've consulted my manual for details of how to open the console. It shows 5 places to 'release the clips' at but I've put a screw driver in at the points and nothing is happening. Can anyone tell me what techni...

Re: Offset dowels for the MG TF 135..........
Hello Rob. The offset of the dowels are 6 degrees, which was the suggested offset by Dave Andrews for the VVC engine. As to whether the dowels would work in the 135 engine is another matter and I'm not skilled enough to try trial and error myself. I may try and get my local garage to fit them but t...

Re: Offset dowels for the MG TF 135..........
They are small bolt shaped pieces of metal that fit behind the timing pulleys and when the pulleys are fitted back on them they change the location of the cams and advance the timing which, on the VVC engine, is considered a little retarded for optimum power. As I've changed engines I'm wondering i...

Offset dowels for the MG TF 135..........
Hello all. Can anyone tell me if the offset dowels I havedesigned for the Mgf VVC engine will work in the MG TF 135 Engine? I'm planning on having the 135 engine ecu remapped so is fitting the dowels of any benefit?

MG TF 135 power increases..........
Hello forum, hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weather finally getting warmer this year! I've had to replace my beloved Mgf with a newer MG TF 135 after an oil burning incident. Now my dilemma is how to increase the power from the 135 as all the mods that I've used previously have be...

Superchips Icon Race Unit
Hello there forum, my much loved Mgf has given up the ghost with blue smoke from the exhaust. I'm no mechanic but I know it's not a good sign! So now I'm thinking of buying a MG TF 1.8 (135) and hoped someone might know if the superchips icon race programmable ECU can be mapped to work with this en...
