2010 Arctic Circle Run!! 5th February (Friday)
Hello Andrew 'Scarlet Fever' Just seen your post on MG-Rover.Org, YES I will be at Thurrock, enjoyed it so much this year!
Regards
John W
I have one planned for early February.
Will be similar to last year, there was talk of kicking it off at Clackett's Lane instead of Thurrock as they had to wait ages until we collected them and then had a long drive in a small group afterwards, but if we do this then we won't do the Dartford crossing together, so i don't think this is a go-er. Clacketts' due to geography, will always be a small contingent i think though, it's not fair on those living south of the Thames, but if we want to all blare through the tunnel together than we have to start at Thurrock - QED
So, kick off at 10:00 to 10:30 ish depending on traffic reports, it'll be a Friday evening, so Feb 5th or Feb 12th is looking favourite, collect South Mimms group and then collect Clackett's Lane group. Blatt through the tunnel together (for free as it'll be after 10pm)
Will be for charity, 2010's charity is the RNLI and there will be a couple of runs next year to raise money for them, including an Essex / Suffolk borders rally (which Adrian and I need to dream up! ).
Any interest?

We havn't announced this one yet as we havn't confirmed a firm date but it will be along similar lines to last years chilly run and will be in aid of the RNLI.
Hopefully we can firm this up soon.

If you look on MGRover-Org, there are 29 cars already booked!, plus cars from North East Essex Ragtops!, all know this is a charity event in aid RNLI, with an entry fee of £5.00 per car.

John we are still waiting for Andy to confirm a date with us. A provisional date has been 'advertised' but until Andy confirms we can not say any more. It will be a MGF Register covered event with MSA certificate but we need to hear back from Andy ASAP.John W wrote:If you look on MGRover-Org, there are 29 cars already booked!, plus cars from North East Essex Ragtops!, all know this is a charity event in aid RNLI, with an entry fee of £5.00 per car.

Hello Folks, This list posted is showing only an "interest in taking part" in next years event as a thread had been started asking when is ?.......No body has booked anything as yet..... A keen interest has been noted to get the ball rolling which it has had. As keith has said : Andy has to confirm details and then post...then of course he will probably start new post heading as and when he makes the decision.....
Im definately taking part...

Sorry mate, nothing in that range. I'm a bit heavier than that, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, that sort of thing.

I've been speaking to MG Enthusiast (they are featuring my car and the tenacity with which it hung onto its head gasket) and he is interested in mentioning the Arctic Circle run. Will there be soemthing on the website soon, or another minisite like we had last year. He needs a link!

Re: 2010 Arctic Circle Run!!
I know Andy is really busy at the moment with work but he will be working to complete the logos and paper work behind the run when he can & then will be publicising the event as soon as he can after that. The date is looking likely to be the 5th Feb but no other detail is available at present.Ally wrote:I've been speaking to MG Enthusiast (they are featuring my car and the tenacity with which it hung onto its head gasket) and he is interested in mentioning the Arctic Circle run. Dates & event will be published shortly for all the Register events for 2010.

Re: 2010 Arctic Circle Run!!
There was an equivelent Northern event last year, around the M60 on the same night that the M25 run was originally planned to go....shall we plan to do the same again this year?

Re: 2010 Arctic Circle Run!!
Just by way of an update...
All details confirmed:
Thurrock group sets off circa 10-10:30pm on Friday February 6th
South Mimms and Clackett's groups tag on as the convoy passes by.
All do the tunnel together - BLARE!!!!
Then they all peel off once our relative circuits are done
Not sure if we should all peel off at Thurrock - it was good to get everyone together for a photos or two and natter, but it did interrupt the run for the South Mimms and Clacketts groups - what do you guys think?
Logos will be done early this week, as will the paperwork - Will start an official list then on here and on .org

Yay!!
Two journalists have expressed an interest in joining us - Simon Goldsworthy from MG Enthusiast (who is sticking a mention in the next issue, out Dec 18th, and Stuart Pritchard from Smartlife International. Simon is going to try and borrow an F, and Stuart has bagged my passenger seat (brave man!!)

Re: 2010 Arctic Circle Run!!
I quite like the stop off at Thurrock. It's good to catch up with people as this is probably the first official meet of the New Year. If you don't stop at Thurrock you lose this important social aspect of the run I feel.
Besides, it's nice to have a comfort break and a coffee to defrost a bit.

Re: 2010 Arctic Circle Run!!
Looking at a 2010 calendar Friday is shown as the 5th Feb, I am assuming we are starting Friday evening and completing the run in the early hours of Saturday 6th Feb, I am not being picky but just want to make sure I turn up on the correct day
