Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

The T4 diagnostic program is handed down from the original Testbook 1,2 and 3 days - the cable connection procedure was not updated on the screen!
T4 main long diagnostic cable is DTC 4007B and does not use the serial connection box DTC0006A. The blue diagnostic connector plugs straight into DTC4007B.
Thank you for the useful information! :thumbsu: Now I will have to look for somebody to sort the file system.

Hmm. Still no joy... I'd better find another T4 and try the cables :?

Does T4 now recocognise the correct cables are plugged in? If so, the next screen will be trying to establish communications with the ECU.

Unfortunately no. The hand held unit is not able to establish communication either.

Is this a fault of the T4, or a fault of the MEMS1.9 ECU, given that you've managed to ascertain that it is the fault underlying the fueling problem your car's been suffering from Jon?

Can you get your T4 to communicate with another Rover/ Land Rover?

I have sent the T4 to an expert who has experience with this kind of equipment. Fingers crossed he will make it work!

The hand held tester is normally very reliable, there are two leads with this. DTC4013 is a one piece diagnostic lead with diagnostic socket on the end in black, this is for use with EOBD2 system, selected on the screen. DTC4013 is for MG Rover diagnostics that allows you to plug in the blue diagnostic lead.

If you don't have a copy, the rave manual normally has a copy of the T4 operating manual with lead illustrations etc.

With apologies to Rob for going slightly off topic here!
