Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM, PDF versions or paper copies of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum. We don't want to get into trouble and we'd rather sell you a genuine hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway! :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based, so any information is given in good faith and is not guaranteed as correct.

Definitive info on Freelander wiper motor

Post by JeremyC » Mon May 06, 2024 12:05 pm

There seems to be no clear opinion on using the Freelander wiper motor DLB10153. Depending on where you look either:

i) You just need to swap the plugs, observing the wire colour coding.

ii) Even if you do the above the will be a short to earth somewhere and you'll keep blowing fuses. Somebody even stripped down the motor and isolated the electrical assembly from the casing.

I'd appreciate opinions and experience, particularly recent.

Many thanks.

Not sure why you'd want to do this, but the advantage of the Freelander wiper motor would be that you should be able to make use of the variable intermittent function (although this is much more than a simple motor swap!!!)

So firstly, why are you looking at Freelander wiper motors? Is it that you want a brand new one, and it is the only potential option available? I'd personally go with a second hand MGF/TF one: you may need to swap the plug, but it is straightforward to do.

I have a Freelander as well, but I confess that I have not looked into the differences in the wiring...
