Forum rules
Not many rules really, this board being aimed at technical issues, it shouldn't fall foul (hopefully) of some of the more personal issues that can affect forums.

Rule 1 - Is that you need to think very carefully before posting anything technical or asking anything technical relating to the security system of the car - See 'Security Issues' sticky for more info.

Rule 2 - We (MGF Register) do not support copyright infringement and therefore references to CD ROM versions of the workshop manual (for instance) should not be posted on the forum (don't want to get into trouble, we'd rather sell you a pukka hard copy through our Regalia shop anyway!) :)

Because advice is honestly and freely given in this technical section, much of it will be amateur experienced based. Therefore we are pleased that we have a professional MG trained mechanic as a moderator. Steve Tyler who owns and operates British Legends in Southend will visit regularly with his knowledge and assistance.

Window out of alignment !!

Postby nelly180 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:29 am

Hi I have a slight problem, my driver side window is not square when fully closed, it is down at the back edge and the front edge is higher hence a gap when its shut so rain is getting in and wetting my seat. Any ideas on how i can adjust it so I can shut my window, cheers all.

Might be an idea to check whether the window stop is still intact - and if not, replace it : http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/the_ea ... owstop.htm

HA HAAAAAAAAA !! Joys at last after further investigation i had a look at the window stops from above its a black one which is cool and wasnt broken at all, so i put it up and down, and there was the answer staring me right in the face.......... the window stop was on top of the window stop stop (hope that makes sense ) so i took the stop stop off and put the window right down, the re-fitted the stop stop and re greased all the runners with teflon grease, then came the moment of truth, i put the window back up and EUREKA the window fits flush now and goes up and down like a dream. :D

Hi Nelly,

Pleased to see you've got your leaks sorted out. However, if you've overdone the hood clamps you will break the locking lever(s). When I reset mine I used the garden hose on fine spray an adjusted the clamping to just stop water getting past the seals. I had one locking assy break when I first got my F. You cannot buy spare parts. You have to buy a whole assy. There should be little effort to move the lever into the locked position.

Good luck
