The MGF Register hosts an annual awards ceremony presenting a number of trophies to Members. The awards originated in 1997 when two trophies were donated to the Register from MGF dealerships Tanswell and Priests of Chesham. These trophies were awarded for Member of the Year and Significant Contribution to the club.
After those initial trophies, there was a three-year gap before they were taken up again in 2000. Other trophies have been added since – Special Awards in 2005; Brian Griffin Sports Trophy, Photographic Cup, FasTForward Trophy in 2008; It Could Have Been A Better Day trophy in 2009; the Dee Walker Trophy was awarded for best driving tests at MGFests from 2008 to 2010 and then changed to Best MGF/TF from 2012.
The winners are nominated by the committee and members and the Chairman makes the final decision.
They are normally awarded alongside the AGM or at the Chairman’s Weekend. In 2020 and 2021 they were awarded virtually due to COVID-19.
