About the MGF Register

The MGF Register is the original MGF community. It was the first Register of the MG Car Club to come into existence at the same time as the car itself in 1995 and grew hand in hand with the MGF itself.

Its early days set the template for the future – a mix of social events and recording details of every MGF (and later TF) made. Alongside, help was provided for owners having technical problems with their cars and support for a single model race series, the MGF Cup.

The first event was a picnic at Gaydon and attendance at the first two official birthday parties in 1996 and 1997. There were golf weekends and a banquet at Warwick Castle. Events today are focused mainly around the Register’s local regional groups with larger main events such as the Chairman’s weekend and National Weekender organised centrally.

The Register also has a philanthropic side and each year a new charity is chosen to support with funds being raised through special charity events and through the local regions.

The Register’s groups often link in with the local MGCC Centre groups for events and shows as well as organising its presence at shows such as the NEC Classic Car Show and MG & Triumph Spares Day.

The Regions organise anything from pub meets, road runs, shows to coffee mornings, visits to places of interest and sports (well mini golf and bowling!).

Of, course we are part of the MG Car Club and unsurprisingly are involved with the organisation of the premiere MGLive! event held at Silverstone – the Register normally organises the evening party, music and Glo Car competition.

The Register has its own magazine, FasTForward, which is published quarterly and is the only magazine dedicated solely to the MGF and TF.

You will also find the Register on the Internet with numerous social media sites serving the main club and the local groups as well as this website.

Above all it is about camraderie and enjoying this great little British sportscar to its limits in a safe and fun way – If you are thinking about joining any MGF group then make sure it is the original and the best!
