The Register

The MGF Register, as the name may suggest, was originally set up by the MG Car Club to record details of as many MGFs as possible, in line with the other Registers of the club.

To this end, the original factory records were donated to the club by MG Motor UK and now forms the basis of the extensive register of cars with details of virtually every vehicle built under MG Rover. Over the years this has been added to with some of the MG Motor TFs but we could still do with details on this last incarnation.

We would still like as much information about your car as possible and would urge you to register your car with us using the link below, in order to keep the register as up to date as possible.

Please note that at present this link takes you to a former version of this website so looks different – don’t worry though as it is genuine!

If you wish to register by mail please click the button for a pdf version which can be downloaded and printed.

How to find your numbers……

We’d like to collect this information so we can trace cars’ histories where possible. The car’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) can be seen on a metal plate through the windscreen on the left side of the car — whilst the engine number is most readily found on the V5 document (as can the VIN). The VIN, plus the paint and trim codes can also be found on a plate under the bonnet.

The body build number is in the boot under the carpet to the left side at the top as seen in these pictures.

You will need all these numbers to complete your registration. Not all LE500s have this number, if yours does not then please enter 00 in the appropriate field.
You can find a list of paint codes here:- Paint Codes
and a list of trim codes here:- Trim Codes

What do we do with your vehicle information?

All information that we collect is treated confidentially and is not passed on to any third parties out of the MG Car Club. The information is used by the Register to build a clear picture of what cars our members own, where in the country they are and to provide a history trace for cars that pass through the register. Vehicle data is kept separately to membership data and does not include personal details. Data may used in compiling articles for publication and for answering queries from members but no personal details of ownership are revealed. The MGF Register is a part of the MG Car Club, and is covered by the club under the GDPR rules.
